A Balancing Act

Too many ideas, too little time!

That may sound a little arrogant, but it’s actually a genuine problem, and I’m not the only one. Some may say it’s a good problem, but I’m not so sure.

It’s frustrating as hell to have an idea or a solution, that you know you have to let go or forget about, as you have 20 more waiting in the wings to be fulfilled. And if that’s not frustrating enough,  when I pass on and explain a really good idea to someone else, someone that I know could do great things with my concept, they unfortunately, are too short sighted to see the full potential to do anything with it! So at the end of the day, I simply have to do it myself.

As Friedrich Engels said, “An ounce of action is worth a ton of theory”

A few months ago I decided I’m going to change the world… well I never said my ideas were small, or easy… if they were, I guess anyone would take up the task and do it… but they’re not, so I might as well do them myself. I’ve set a time frame of ten years… that may seem like a long time, but it’s not really, as when you think about it, the world’s a pretty big place!

Brendan, oh the burden of genius can be pretty bothersome, I agree and empathize. Sometime I have so many ideas it feels like the top of my head’s going to come off. And until there are more hours in the day or I grow another set of digits it seems there’s not much I can do about it either. So I’m absolutely no hope to you, I just wanted to swing by and say hi.

I enjoyed the Engels quote by the way, in many ways he was far smarter than Marx. So much of the time the teamwork’s the clincher isn’t it?… and they’re a case in point. Hope life’s putting the spring of good relationships into your step, I’ll set my timer for 2020 and keep everything crossed for you. Cheers Anne

Hi Anne, I have to admit to writing that at 2am, getting home after a few beers with friends (NB to self: generally not a good idea to mix alcohol with a blog!)… guess I was in beer goggled philosophical mood.

Oh, and I think you’re a bit hard on Groucho Marx, I think he was pretty smart too, when you consider quotes like “Those are my principles, and if you don’t like them… well, I have others” and “From the moment I picked up your book until I laid it down, I was convulsed with laughter… Some day I intend reading it”
