I just read that one of my favourite authors, JG Ballard, has finally succumb to prostate cancer (15 Nov 1930 – 19 Apr 2009). Having written such greats as High Rise, Concrete Island & Empire of the Sun (with the last having been made into a film by Steven Spielberg). He wrote a huge amount of short stories, with the majority of his work revolving around the subject of modern dystopia, with even the term Ballardian being entered into the English Dictionary to describe such work.
